More Earthquakes

The earthquakes went on with a 6.3 earthquake on 22nd February, another 6.3 on 13th June and many more in between and since. The 22nd February quake destroyed many homes and left our city in ruins. Parts of the CBD (central business district) are still closed. One thing all this has done is it has brought the people closer together.

I went up to New Zealand Juniors swimming championships on the 19th and 20th February and our team came third in New Zealand. We flew back on the Sunday and I went to our school camp on Monday the 21st at Living Springs on Banks Peninsula. 12.50pm on the Tuesday the 6.3 earthquake struck and our lives changed…

QEII complex was destroyed. This was our second home and it was really sad. Our juniors team came third in New Zealand and returned, two days later we had no pool…

There are many things to be grateful for…we are all safe. It was a while before we got back training yet the funny thing is that all the team are together training again. We are a resilient lot. Our team is even stronger for all this – watch out for us in the 2012 New Zealand Juniors!

Swimming – Fun and Competitive

Junior swimming at QEII is really fun. We have a great bunch of kids and are getting better and better.

Busy with Swimming and other Sport

It is ages since I did a post!

Merry Christmas from Satori

It seems ages since I posted to my blog…

Life has been busy, busy

We had some illness at home and then I got busy with the sport and then the end of school.  Now it is nearly Christmas – wow this year has gone fast!

I have been doing lots of swimming – got moved up in the squads and now I have swimming more often and that keeps me extra busy.  We get a rest for a bit over Christmas.

Went in a great event in November the Splash and Dash challenge.  It was the inaugural Splash and Dash Challenge and hence was relaxed with not too many participants although it is expected to get bigger in the future.

Well I am not going to write much today, just wanted to say “Merry Christmas”.

Catch you after Santa has been…

I Have Just Turned 10!

My 10th Birthday

Yep, I had a party at Hoyts, Riccarton.  We had a tour of the projectionists movie room and then got to see the movie GI Joe.  After that we had a party in their party room.  Mum organised Pizza’s and drink and we had a birthday cake.

What presents did I get for my 10th birthday?

Bioicles

Money

Books

and the best gift of all was my puppy Sasha!

She is a beautiful wee thing.

If you want to know more about her, have a read of my speech ‘My Dog Sasha!’

How are my activities going?

Soccer

Soccer season has just finished.

I play in our school B team for soccer.  We  came second in our division.  Two of my team mates from our Saturday games were in the team that beat us and won the division!

Our Saturday team did really well overall.  We won our game this Saturday.  I had a change from playing striker and played defence.  In the second half I played as our goalie.  I quite enjoyed it!

Cross Country

This week I had a cross country run for the first time in two months.  Have been having problems with my legs.  They were still sore on Saturday.  I did okay though and ran my best time over 2.5km – 11.05min.

Basketball

In basketball on Thursday I played well in defence and got Player of the Day!  It was a good game, we won by two points.

Swimming

Swimming is going well too.  I am hoping to go up a level at the end of the term.  Mum has organised for me to go in a race night and see what I think of it – that is in the middle of September.

Drama

I am back doing drama again – I love drama!  We are preparing for a show that we put on near the end of this term!

That’s about all the news for now – will write some more again soon…

Latest Happenings of Satori

Hi All

It seems ages since I wrote anything…

I have been busy with all my sport.  Running isn’t going very well though.  Each time I run, my legs just ache!

In the Canterbury Primary School Cross Country Champs I had a terrible run, was real disappointed with myself.

Mind you…later that afternoon I had soccer and after that I went to bed – came down with the flu and was in bed for two days!  No wonder the run didn’t go well.

If you have any ideas on what is making my legs ache so much I would be very thankful of your views.

Mum took me to the podiatrist today – it sounds like it may be from my new running shoes…really don’t know.

Swimming is going well anyway – at least it doesn’t affect that.

And on the good side of things…

Last week I got my first goal in basketball…and

Last Saturday and the Saturday before I scored a goal in soccer.  This last Saturday the score was 1 – 0 so my goal was the only goal in the game!

I am getting better!

After the soccer I went over to the All Blacks Mastercard Roadshow.  It was at Hagley Park just across from the soccer fields.

Got to meet Ritchie McCaw.  He is really cool.

Then I had a go on all there games.  My favourite was the try scoring.  First go I go 12 points and when I had a second go I scored 18 points – the maximum possible!  That was fun!!

This Saturday I have soccer and the South Island Cross Country champs – wonder if my legs will ache again?

That’s about all the news for now…

Catch you again soon!

Oh, I forgot to mention – last Thursday we had our school zones cross country competition.  I came 4th in the Christchurch North East Zone so I made it into the Canterbury Champs.  Not my best run though.
